Skiers take note - this morning was the third time this fall we have awakened to fresh snow on the peaks. Anthony Lakes Ski & Recreation area, www.anthonylakes.com, is behind the peak to the upper right of the photo. At 7000, Ski Anthony has the highest base level in the state of Oregon and is known for its fluffy, dry powder snow. They always nope to open by Thanksgiving weekend. Watch their web site for snow updates. The orange glow across the face of the mountains is caused by the Tamarack trees (Western Larch) having turned. After a few days, they will drop their needles. Next spring, they will grow bright green new needles.
